Beijing Normal University Young Scholars Sub-Forum on Geographical Science Held on Dec 6
Beijing Normal University (BNU) Young Scholars Sub-Forum on Geographical Science was held by Faculty of Geographical Science (FGS), Beijing Normal University on Dec 6. Issues on the development of Beijing Normal University and the prospect of geographical sciences were discussed on the forum, deepening the mutual understanding between FGS and young scholars, enhancing Beijing Normal University and Faculty of Geographical Science’s global reputation.
The first phase of the sub-forum was an informal discussion hosted by professor Song Changqing, the Executive Dean of Faculty of Geographical Science, BNU. He talked about the history, status quo and features of geographical science and educational work of Beijing Normal University. Through the discussion, young scholars knew more about the measures that the university took to recruit talented people, improve educational quality and pursue academic innovation.
Song Changqing says that Beijing Normal University and the Faculty of Geographical Science spare no efforts in making substantial research achievements and keeping a leading position of their influential disciplines. The university and the faculty are looking forward to having a conversation and cooperation with more young scholars in the future.
The second phase of the sub-forum was an academic lecture hosted by Wu Yunfeng, the Executive Deputy Dean of Faculty of Geographical Science. He says that the sub-forum is expected to foster a closer tie between young scholars and senior scholars, providing them with more opportunities for communication and cooperation.
Academic lectures delivered by eight young scholars covered a wide range of related fields, such as Cartography and Geography Information Systems, the technology of remote sensing, urban transportation, and climate change. After the lecture, attendees had an in-depth exchange of views with young scholars.
