2019 Seminar on Scientific Development of Resources hosted by School of Natural Resources on Nov 30

Director Li Xiaoyan expressed a heartfelt thanks to the participating experts, scholars, and all teachers and students. “I believe that with the great support of school and faculty leaders, teachers and students of School of Natural Resources will surely make greater achievements in discipline development, scientific research and societal services for the country.”

2019 Seminar on Scientific Development of Resources hosted by the School of Natural Resources, Faculty of Geographical Science, was held on November 30. This seminar attracted more than 200 teachers and students from Beijing Normal University and other key universities.

Hosted by Professor Li Xiaoyan, the director of the School of Natural Resources, the seminar was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), as well as professors and researchers with remarkable academic achievements of related fields. The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Geographical Science, Professor Song Changqing made a welcome speech for the seminar.

Deputy Director Yun Wenju from MNR, Professor Song Changqing, Section Chief Li Zhiguang from MWR, Professor Wang Ninglian, and researchers Peng Xinhua and Liu Yansui made invited lectures for the seminar, covering multiple important issues: the construction of comprehensive observing network of natural resources, geographical science, the development of resource-related disciplines and societal practices, methods and discussions on dynamic monitoring of freeze-thaw erosion, recent changes of mountain glaciers along the Silk Road Economic Belt, hydrological process and law of material migration of critical zone of red earth, modern human-earth system, and sustainable development.

Attendees took the opportunity to know the major needs of the country, the frontiers of international research, better understanding the development direction of related disciplines.

Professor Zhang Jinliang, Yu Deyong, Du Shushan and associate professor Wang Pei delivered special reports at the seminar. Teachers and students said that they learned a lot from those lectures.
